Plagiarism and Retraction Policy
Jurnal Prima Medika Sains, published and managed by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Prima Indonesia, is committed to maintaining academic integrity, publication transparency, and the reliability of the scientific record. All submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal’s publication ethics policies and applicable standards of responsible research and scholarly publishing.
1. Plagiarism Policy
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts contain original work and appropriately acknowledge all sources used. Plagiarism, including the unauthorized use of text, ideas, data, figures, tables, or other materials without proper attribution, is considered a serious violation of publication ethics.
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software before or during the editorial process. Manuscripts suspected of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or inappropriate reuse of previously published material will be evaluated by the editorial team.
Depending on the severity and nature of the identified similarities, the editor may request revisions, reject the manuscript, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.
2. Withdrawal of Manuscripts by Authors
Authors are expected to carefully consider their submissions before submitting them to Jurnal Prima Medika Sains. Once a manuscript has entered the editorial process, including initial screening, peer review, copyediting, or layout preparation, withdrawal should only be requested for valid and justifiable reasons.
Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript must submit a formal written request to the editorial team, stating the reasons for withdrawal. The request will be evaluated by the editor in accordance with the journal’s policies and the stage of the publication process.
Submitting the same manuscript to another journal while it remains under consideration by Jurnal Prima Medika Sains is not permitted. Unauthorized withdrawal or simultaneous submission may be treated as a violation of publication ethics.
If an author identifies a minor error after publication, such as an incorrect author name or institutional affiliation, the author should contact the editorial team to request an appropriate correction. Such corrections will be handled according to the journal’s correction policy.
3. Retraction of Published Articles
Jurnal Prima Medika Sains may retract a published article when reliable evidence indicates that its findings or publication record are seriously compromised. Retraction decisions are made by the editor following an appropriate assessment of the available evidence and, where necessary, consultation with the relevant parties.
Grounds for retraction may include:
-
Invalid research findings: Clear evidence that the results are unreliable because of data fabrication, data falsification, or serious errors in calculations or analysis.
-
Duplicate publication: Substantial overlap with previously published work without appropriate disclosure or justification.
-
Plagiarism: Confirmed evidence of plagiarism or unauthorized use of another party’s work.
-
Research misconduct: Proven ethical violations in the conduct, reporting, or publication of the research.
-
Unethical research practices: Serious breaches of applicable research ethics requirements or other forms of misconduct that undermine the integrity of the published article.
When an article is retracted, the journal will provide an appropriate retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction, to the extent possible, and maintain a clear record of the article’s publication history.
4. Correction of Published Articles
The journal may issue a correction when errors are identified in a published article and those errors can be addressed without requiring full retraction.
Corrections may be considered in cases involving:
-
Minor errors in text, tables, figures, or other published content that could mislead readers.
-
Incorrect author names, affiliations, or contributor information.
-
Errors in data presentation or other publication details that require clarification.
-
Other verifiable mistakes that affect the accuracy or clarity of the published record but do not invalidate the main findings.
Requests for correction will be evaluated by the editor. Corrections will be published transparently and linked to the original article where appropriate.
5. Editorial Responsibility and Ethical Standards
The editorial team of Jurnal Prima Medika Sains is responsible for evaluating allegations of plagiarism, publication misconduct, and concerns regarding the validity of published research. Authors may be asked to provide explanations, supporting documentation, or corrected materials during the assessment process.
All cases will be handled fairly and consistently, taking into account the available evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and the interests of the scientific community. Decisions regarding correction, rejection, or retraction will be made with the aim of preserving the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
