Peer Review Process

Jurnal Prima Medika Sains, published and managed by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Prima Indonesia, applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific integrity of all submitted manuscripts.

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its suitability for the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with the journal’s author guidelines and manuscript template, and overall academic quality. The editorial team also conducts a similarity check using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin. Manuscripts with a similarity score exceeding 25% may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarities. This initial screening generally takes one to two weeks.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to one or two independent reviewers with relevant expertise for evaluation under a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed. The review process typically takes three to eight weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the editor’s assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept Submission – The manuscript is accepted for publication without further substantive revisions.

  2. Revision Required – The manuscript requires revisions before a final editorial decision can be made.

  3. Resubmit for Review – The manuscript requires substantial revisions and must undergo another round of peer review.

  4. Decline and Recommend Submission Elsewhere – The manuscript is considered unsuitable for the journal and may be better suited to another publication.

  5. Reject Submission – The manuscript does not meet the journal’s scientific, methodological, or editorial standards and will not be considered for publication.

The final publication decision rests with the editor, taking into account the reviewers’ comments, the manuscript’s scientific merit, and its relevance to the journal’s scope. Authors are expected to address reviewers’ comments carefully and submit revised manuscripts within the specified deadline.

Through this process, Jurnal Prima Medika Sains is committed to maintaining high standards of academic quality, transparency, and publication ethics in the fields of Public Health, Clinical Medicine, Tropical Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.
