Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Prima Medika Sains, published and managed by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Universitas Prima Indonesia, applies clear authorship criteria to maintain the integrity, transparency, and accountability of scientific publications in health and medical sciences.

Authorship is based on substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. Professional position, institutional affiliation, administrative involvement, or financial support alone does not qualify an individual for authorship.

1. Authorship Requirements

Every individual listed as an author must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions: Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, the acquisition of research data, or the analysis and interpretation of data.

  2. Manuscript Preparation or Critical Revision: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions relating to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All four criteria must be fulfilled for an individual to qualify for authorship.

2. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who contribute only through financial support, administrative assistance, provision of facilities, general supervision, routine data collection without substantial intellectual involvement, or language and grammatical editing do not qualify for authorship solely on the basis of those activities.

Such contributions should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section, with the permission of the individuals concerned where applicable.

3. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between Jurnal Prima Medika Sains and all co-authors throughout manuscript submission, peer review, publication, and post-publication communication.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that every listed author meets all four authorship criteria established by the journal.

  2. Confirming that all qualifying contributors are appropriately recognized and that no individual is included without meeting the authorship requirements.

  3. Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before submission.

  4. Confirming that all authors agree to submit the manuscript to Jurnal Prima Medika Sains.

  5. Disclosing relevant conflicts of interest, funding sources, and applicable research ethics approvals.

  6. Coordinating communication among the authors and the editorial team, including responses to reviewer comments and requests for revisions.

  7. Ensuring that any proposed changes to authorship during the editorial process are disclosed, justified, and approved by all affected authors in accordance with the journal’s policies.

4. Prevention of Improper Authorship

Jurnal Prima Medika Sains does not permit ghost authorship, in which individuals who have made qualifying contributions are omitted, or gift authorship and guest authorship, in which individuals are listed despite not meeting the journal’s authorship criteria.

Any concerns regarding authorship disputes or inappropriate attribution will be evaluated by the editorial team. The journal may request clarification or supporting documentation from the relevant parties before making an editorial decision.

5. Commitment to Responsible Authorship

Jurnal Prima Medika Sains is committed to ensuring that authorship is assigned fairly, transparently, and responsibly. All authors are expected to uphold research integrity, acknowledge contributions appropriately, and accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their published work.

This policy applies to all manuscript types submitted to the journal, including original research articles, review articles, methodological studies, clinical and public health case studies, and short communications.
