PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

Bahasa Indonesia Prima: Journal of Language, Literature, Education, Teaching, and Social Studies

Bahasa Indonesia Prima: Journal of Language, Literature, Education, Teaching, and Social Studies is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards at all stages of the publication process. This statement is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and reflects the journal’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability.

All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are required to comply with these ethical principles.

1. Duties of Authors

1.1 Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original and free from plagiarism. All sources must be properly cited. Any form of plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, is unethical and unacceptable.

1.2 Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the work, including:

  • conceptualization and design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation;
  • drafting or critically revising the manuscript;
  • approving the final version before submission.

All authors share responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and integrity of the manuscript.

1.3 Duplicate or Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit manuscripts that are simultaneously under review by another journal. Submissions that substantially overlap with previously published works will be considered duplicate publications and will not be accepted.

1.4 Data Accuracy and Integrity

Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited. Authors must present accurate, honest, and verifiable data.

1.5 Citation Ethics

Authors should use only relevant citations. Excessive or inappropriate self-citation intended to manipulate citation metrics is not permitted.

1.6 Ethical Approval and Intellectual Property Rights

Authors must ensure that all ethical standards are followed and that the use of data, texts, or other materials complies with applicable legal and intellectual property regulations.

1.7 Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose any financial support and potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or interpretation of results.

1.8 Correction of Errors

If a significant error is discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the editor to correct or retract the article.

2. Duties of Editors

2.1 Publication Decision

Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are suitable for publication based on academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, clarity, and reviewers’ recommendations.

2.2 Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, political views, or institutional affiliation.

2.3 Confidentiality

Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose information to unauthorized parties.

2.4 Conflict of Interest

Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest. Unpublished materials must not be used for personal research.

3. Duties of Reviewers

3.1 Contribution to Editorial Decision

Reviewers assist editors in editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

3.2 Promptness

Reviewers who are unable to complete a review within the allocated time or who feel unqualified must inform the editor promptly.

3.3 Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential and must not be shared or discussed without authorization.

3.4 Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Comments should be supported by clear and logical arguments.

3.5 Citation Verification

Reviewers should identify relevant works not cited by the authors and report any suspected plagiarism or substantial similarity to other publications.

3.6 Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

4. Peer Review Process

Bahasa Indonesia Prima applies a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Each manuscript is reviewed by two independent reviewers from institutions different from those of the authors.

Authors will be informed of the editorial decision—accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected—within a maximum of two weeks after the manuscript enters the review stage.

Manuscripts may be rejected for the following reasons:

  • the topic is outside the journal’s scope;
  • ethical violations (plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication or manipulation);
  • low academic quality;
  • weak theoretical framework or methodology;
  • poor language quality or formatting;
  • failure to submit revisions within three months;
  • two unfavorable reviewer recommendations.

5. Uncorrected Proof

Uncorrected proofs will be sent to the corresponding author in .doc or .rtf format and must be returned within 7 days. The final version will be published online after corrections are completed.

6. Copyright

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • the work has not been previously published;
  • it is not under consideration elsewhere;
  • all authors have approved the submission.

Authors retain the copyright and may reproduce the article for non-commercial purposes with proper citation. For new intellectual property or inventions, authors are advised to secure legal protection prior to publication.

7. Open Access Policy

Bahasa Indonesia Prima provides full open access to its published content. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full texts of articles for non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given.

8. Disclaimer

The publisher and editors are not responsible for any consequences arising from the use of information published in the journal, including errors, intellectual property violations, privacy breaches, or other liabilities. Responsibility for the content rests solely with the authors.
