Abstract

The prevalence of BTA Positive Pulmonary TB in Indonesia is 257 per 100,000
population aged >15 years. In 2022, East Tanjung Jabung Regency will contribute 483
cases of pulmonary TB. This research is an analytical study with a cross sectional
design to determine the analysis of factors in smoking behavior and the incidence of
pulmonary tuberculosis at the Nurdin Hamzah Hospital, East Tanjung Jabung Regency.
Samples were taken using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique was purposive
sampling with a total of 145 respondents. The results of the study showed that there was
a relationship between smoking status, age when starting smoking, quantity of smoking,
duration of smoking, type of smoking, gender, nutritional status (body mass index) and
education on the incidence of pulmonary TB. There is no relationship between age and
occupation on the incidence of pulmonary TB. Health workers are expected to further
increase health promotion regarding the dangers of smoking and its relationship to
Tuberculosis for individuals, families and groups/communities.
