Author Guidelines

JUSIKOM (Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Ilmu Komputer) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by Universitas Prima Indonesia. The journal serves as a platform for researchers, academics, lecturers, students, practitioners, and professionals to disseminate high-quality research findings and innovative ideas in the fields of Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Networks, Cyber Security, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Health Informatics, Multimedia Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, Decision Support Systems, and other related areas of computing and digital technology.

JUSIKOM is published twice a year, in February and August, and implements a Double-Blind Peer Review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific contribution of every published article. The journal welcomes submissions of Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Literature Reviews, Short Communications, Case Studies, and Technical Notes that are relevant to the journal's aims and scope.

All submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal. Every manuscript submitted to JUSIKOM undergoes an initial editorial screening to evaluate its suitability with the journal's scope, formatting requirements, and publication ethics. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to independent reviewers for a Double-Blind Peer Review process. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations and the scientific quality of the manuscript. Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts according to the official JUSIKOM Author Guidelines and submit them through the Open Journal Systems (OJS). The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's scope, formatting requirements, publication ethics, or scientific standards.

Types of Manuscripts

JUSIKOM accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

1. Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present novel research findings, innovative methods, system development, experimental studies, or practical implementations in the fields of Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Cyber Security, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Health Informatics, and other related disciplines.

2. Review Articles

Review Articles provide a comprehensive and critical analysis of current developments, emerging technologies, theories, or research trends related to Information Systems, Computer Science, and Information Technology. Review articles should synthesize existing knowledge and identify future research opportunities.

3. Systematic Literature Review (SLR)

A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) systematically identifies, evaluates, and synthesizes previous studies related to a specific research topic in computing and information systems using established review protocols.

4. Editorial

Editorial articles are written by the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, or invited experts. These articles discuss current issues, emerging trends, research directions, journal policies, or technological developments in Information Systems, Computer Science, and Digital Technology.

General Instructions

Authors who intend to publish their manuscripts in JUSIKOM: Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Ilmu Komputer are required to comply with the following guidelines:

• Manuscripts submitted to JUSIKOM must fall within the journal's scope and be categorized as Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR), Short Communications, Case Studies, or Editorials.
• Submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal or conference proceedings.
• Authors are required to submit an Author Declaration Statement, confirming that the manuscript is original, free from plagiarism, and has not been submitted simultaneously to another publication.
• The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have reviewed, approved, and agreed to the submission of the manuscript. Any changes to authorship after submission must be approved by all authors and the Editorial Office.
• Every manuscript submitted to JUSIKOM will undergo an initial editorial screening, including an evaluation of the journal scope, manuscript format, completeness of submission, and a similarity check using plagiarism detection software.
• Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening will be evaluated through a Double-Blind Peer Review process by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.
• The Editor reserves the right to return manuscripts to the authors for correction if they do not comply with the journal's formatting requirements, writing standards, or ethical policies before entering the peer-review process.
• Research involving human participants, animals, personal data, or sensitive information must comply with applicable research ethics regulations. Authors should provide ethical approval or a statement of ethical compliance whenever required.
• Manuscripts, figures, tables, and supplementary materials submitted to JUSIKOM become part of the journal's editorial record and will not be returned to the authors.
• Authors are required to comply with all editorial policies of JUSIKOM, including publication ethics, copyright policy, plagiarism policy, and conflict of interest disclosure.

Editorial Process

Each submitted manuscript will proceed through the following editorial stages:

1. Submission – The manuscript is submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) of JUSIKOM.
2. Initial Editorial Screening – The Editorial Office evaluates the manuscript for scope, formatting, completeness, and similarity check.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review – Eligible manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
4. Revision – Authors revise the manuscript based on reviewers' and editors' comments.
5. Final Editorial Decision – The Editor-in-Chief determines whether the manuscript is Accepted, requires further revision, or is Rejected.
6. Copyediting and Layout Editing – Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, formatting, proofreading, and final layout preparation.
7. Publication – The article is published in the scheduled issue of JUSIKOM and becomes freely available through the journal's Open Access platform.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Manuscript Preparation

Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts according to the official JUSIKOM template before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with the formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for revision prior to the peer-review process.

Manuscript Format

• Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language.
• Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
• Paper size: A4 (210 × 297 mm).
• Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.
• Line spacing: 1.0 (single spacing).
• Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 2.5 cm, Left 3 cm, Right 2.5 cm (or according to the official JUSIKOM template).
• Manuscripts should normally contain 6–15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
• All pages should be numbered consecutively.
• Authors must use the official JUSIKOM manuscript template available on the journal website.

Abstract and Keywords

• The manuscript must include an abstract in English. For manuscripts written in Indonesian, an additional abstract in Bahasa Indonesia is required.
• The abstract should contain 150–250 words in a single paragraph.
• The abstract should briefly describe the background, objective, methodology, results, and conclusion of the research.
• Do not include references, tables, figures, equations, or unexplained abbreviations in the abstract.
• Provide 3–5 keywords arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons (;).

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should generally follow the IMRAD format:

Writing Style

• Use SI (International System of Units) for all measurements.
• Use internationally accepted abbreviations. Non-standard abbreviations should be defined at their first appearance.
• Use metric units throughout the manuscript.
• Avoid beginning sentences with numerals; numbers at the beginning of a sentence should be written in words.
• Mathematical equations should be clearly formatted and numbered consecutively where necessary.

Tables

• Tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
• Each table must have a concise and descriptive title placed above the table.
• Tables should be editable (not inserted as images).
• Explain abbreviations and symbols in table footnotes.
• Tables should be cited in the text before they appear.

Figures and Images

• Figures, diagrams, flowcharts, screenshots, and photographs should be numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).
• Each figure should include a descriptive caption placed below the figure.
• Images should be of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
• Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted figures or images when required.
• All figures must be cited in the text.

Statistical Analysis

Statistical methods should be described clearly in the Research Methodology section. Appropriate statistical techniques, software packages, validation methods, and evaluation metrics should be stated to ensure the reproducibility of the research findings.

References

Authors are required to prepare all citations and references using the APA 7th Edition citation style (or the official citation style adopted by JUSIKOM).

To ensure consistency and accuracy in citation formatting, all authors are required to use Mendeley Reference Manager when preparing in-text citations and the reference list. Manuscripts that do not use Mendeley or do not comply with the required citation style may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the peer-review process.

Key Reference Rules:

• The use of Mendeley Reference Manager is mandatory.
• References must follow the APA 7th Edition citation style.
• At least 80% of the references should be obtained from peer-reviewed journal articles.
• Authors are encouraged to cite references published within the last 10 years, except for seminal or foundational works.
• Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
• Authors are encouraged to cite relevant articles published in JUSIKOM and other reputable national/international journals.
• Personal communications should be avoided and not included in the reference list.
