Abstract

Breast milk is the best food given to babies. After the mother breastfeeds her baby, the mother is expected to burp the baby. Burping the baby will reduce the risk of spitting up. Spitting up is the release of some milk or food that has just been swallowed from the baby's mouth, causing 80% of babies to vomit. This is because the baby's digestive tract motility function has not fully developed. The purpose of this study was to determine the Relationship between Burping Babies After Breastfeeding and Spitting Up in Babies Aged 0-3 Months at the Aceh Government Hospital in 2025. The results of the study from 30 mothers who had babies and were still breastfed showed that spitting up occurred in 13 (43.3%) babies, where the attitude of mothers who burped their babies after breastfeeding was 3 (23%) people and mothers who did not burp were 10 people (73%). While there was no occurrence of spit up in 17 (56.7%) babies where the mother's attitude of burping her baby after breastfeeding was 17 (100%) people and there were no mothers who did not burp. With the results of the chi-square statistical test that has been carried out, it shows a P value (> 0.05) which is 0.001. The research hypothesis states that there is a Relationship between Burping Babies After Breastfeeding and Spitting Up. The conclusion is that the mother's attitude of burping after breastfeeding can reduce the risk of spit up in her baby. Suggestions are expected that health workers, especially midwives, provide education to mothers who have babies about burping their babies after breastfeeding.
