Abstract
This study aims to describe the emotional portrait of Ale, the main character in Brian Khrisna’s novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati, based on David Krech’s literary psychology perspective. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a library study technique. The data source is Brian Khrisna’s novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati, with the data focused on dialogues and monologues depicting Ale’s emotions. Data were collected through reading, note-taking, and documentation techniques and then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman through the stages of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Ale exhibits all classifications of emotions proposed by David Krech. The results of the study show that the character Ale displays all classifications of emotions according to David Krech. Of the 20 data identified, 9 data represent basic emotions, with sadness and fear being the most dominant emotions; 3 data represent emotions related to sensory stimuli; 6 data represent emotions related to self-assessment; and 2 data represent emotions related to other people. These findings reflect Ale’s inner struggle with depression, which ultimately leads him to discover self-acceptance as a key to making peace with the reality of life that does not correspond to his expectations and the psychological conflicts he experiences.
