Abstract

In Indonesia, HIV / AIDS is a new emerging disease and pandemic in all regions. This disease in recent years shows an alarming increase in the incidence rate, the number of cumulative HIV cases reported through June 2012 was 86.762, while the number of cumulative AIDS cases from 1987 to June 2012 was 32.103 cases. The number of deaths and other losses caused by HIV / AIDS are also very high. The cause of death based on the projected world population in 2030, a common cause of death due to infectious diseases has declined, but mortality due to HIV / AIDS continues to increase.HIV related stigmatization and discrimination whether measured by stigmatizing attitudes, fear of or perceived stigma, or enacted stigma is pervasive and negatively impacts the quality of life of people living with HIV. Stigmatization and discrimination in health services were conducted by health workers become of one constraint of lack quality of health service to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) which could ultimatelydeclined health status of PLHA.The aim of this writing is a literature review related to stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV by health workers. Several factors are thought to have an influence on stigma and discrimination are the level of education, perception, work period, the level of knowledge, adherence to religious and institutional support, and other factors such as age, gender, and training on HIV / AIDS.
