Abstract
Injuries among adolescents are common in school settings and require appropriate early management to prevent complications. Limited knowledge and skills in first aid among students may worsen the victim's condition. This community service aimed to explore students’ experiences in participating in practical simulation-based education to improve injury management skills. The activity was conducted at SMK Taruna Jambi involving 36 tenth-grade students, with evaluation carried out on 7 purposively selected participants. A qualitative approach with a descriptive exploratory design was applied. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results identified four main themes: improved practical understanding, increased self-confidence, more engaging and interactive learning experiences, and enhanced preparedness in emergency situations. Practical simulation-based education provides contextual and applicable learning experiences, thereby improving students’ competence in injury management. This approach can serve as an effective educational model to enhance students’ preparedness, particularly in maritime education settings.
