PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

Journal of Technology and Computer Science Prima (JUTIKOMP)

The Journal of Technology and Computer Science Prima (JUTIKOMP) is committed to upholding ethical standards in all stages of the publication process. This statement is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and reflects our commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability. All parties involved—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to these ethical principles.

1. Duties of Authors

1.1 Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original and free from plagiarism. All sources used must be properly cited. Any form of plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, is considered unethical and unacceptable.

1.2 Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research, including:

  1. conceptualization and design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation;

  2. drafting or revising the manuscript;

  3. approving the final version before submission.

All authors share responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and integrity of the work.

1.3 Duplicate / Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit a manuscript that is simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Manuscripts that substantially overlap with previously published work are considered duplicate publications and will not be accepted.

1.4 Data Accuracy and Integrity

Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited. Authors must present accurate and verifiable data.

1.5 Citation Ethics

Only relevant citations should be used. Irrelevant self-citation intended to artificially increase citation counts or journal metrics is not allowed.

1.6 Ethical Approval and Intellectual Property Rights

Authors must ensure that all ethical guidelines have been followed, and that the use of research materials complies with legal and intellectual property regulations.

1.7 Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

All financial support and potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the manuscript.

1.8 Correction of Errors

If a significant error is discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the editor to correct or retract the article.

2. Duties of Editors

2.1 Publication Decision

Editors are responsible for deciding whether a manuscript should be published based on its scientific merit, relevance, clarity, and reviewers’ recommendations.

2.2 Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit, regardless of authors’ race, gender, nationality, religious belief, political ideology, or institutional affiliation.

2.3 Confidentiality

Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share information with unauthorized parties.

2.4 Conflict of Interest

Editors must refrain from handling manuscripts if they have any conflict of interest with the authors or the subject matter. Unpublished materials may not be used for personal research.

3. Duties of Reviewers

3.1 Contribution to Editorial Decision

Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

3.2 Promptness

Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to review a manuscript promptly must inform the editor immediately.

3.3 Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated confidentially and must not be discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.

3.4 Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Arguments should be supported by clear and logical reasoning.

3.5 Citation Verification

Reviewers should identify relevant works not cited by authors and notify the editor of possible plagiarism or substantial similarity to other publications.

3.6 Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline to evaluate manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest with the authors or institutions involved.

4. Peer Review Process

JUTIKOMP implements a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that both authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain anonymous. Each manuscript is evaluated by two independent reviewers from institutions different from the authors’.

Authors will be notified of acceptance, revision, or rejection within a maximum of two weeks after the manuscript enters the review stage.

A manuscript may be rejected due to:

  • mismatch with the journal scope,

  • ethical violations (plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation),

  • low scientific quality,

  • improper formatting or poor grammar,

  • failure to respond to revision requests within three months,

  • or two negative reviewer reports.

5. Uncorrected Proof

Uncorrected proofs will be sent to the corresponding author in .doc or .rtf format for correction within 7 days. The final version will be published online once corrections are completed.

6. Copyright

By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that:

  • the work has not been previously published,

  • it is not under review elsewhere,

  • all authors approve the submission.

Authors retain the copyright and may reproduce the article for non-commercial purposes. For new inventions, authors are advised to secure patent protection before publication.

7. Open Access Policy

JUTIKOMP provides full open access to its published content. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full text of articles, as long as it is not for commercial purposes and proper attribution is given.

8. Disclaimer

The publisher and editors are not responsible for any harm or damage resulting from the use of information contained in the published materials, including errors, violations of intellectual property rights, privacy breaches, or product liability. The accuracy and integrity of content are the sole responsibility of the authors.
