Abstract

If the systolic blood pressure is greater than 140 mmHg or the diastolic blood pressure is greater than 90 mmHg, the condition is referred to as hypertension. Benson relaxation is a non-pharmacological method of reducing blood pressure. The Benson Relaxation Technique is a relaxation technique that regulates breathing and the nervous system. Age-related changes in the structure and function of the heart lead to an increase in hypertension. In the elderly, hypertension occurs more often. Symptoms of hypertension usually experience dizziness, frequent restlessness, easy melting and flashing eyes (Muhadi et al., 2022). Seeing this phenomenon, we are interested in conducting a study entitled Low Relationship Between Blood Pressure in Hypertensive Patients and Benson Relaxation Technique at Royal Prima Hospital Medan with a quantitative research method with Quasi Experiments Accidental Sampling, using a questionnaire, and 30 patients served as the sample size. The findings of both univariate and bivariate analysis, specifically the influance between Benson relaxation techniques and lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients, showed a significant influence between the two variables.
