Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal postpartum knowledge and colostrum feeding in newborns in Arafah 2 Ward, RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin, Banda Aceh in 2025. Colostrum is the first breast milk rich in antibodies and nutrients essential for the newborn’s immune system. The method used in this research was quantitative with data obtained directly from respondents using questionnaires, interviews, and observation. The population was 64 postpartum mothers, with a sample size of 18 participants selected through purposive sampling. The results showed a significant relationship between mothers' level of knowledge and colostrum administration. Mothers with good knowledge were more likely to provide colostrum to their babies. These findings emphasize the need for health education interventions focused on improving maternal knowledge regarding early breastfeeding. Enhancing knowledge could increase the rate of colostrum feeding, which is crucial for neonatal health
