Abstract
Foreign Chinese students need to be able to produce a good and correct Chinese sentence. However, there are still errors in the placement of the adverbial structure 状语 [zhuàngyǔ] in Chinese sentences due to the difference between native language sentence patterns and Chinese sentence patterns. Therefore, this study aims to explain the form of mistakes made by the research subjects on the placement of the adverbial structure状语 [zhuàngyǔ] in Chinese sentences and to explain the effect of native language sentence patterns on the misplacement of the adverbial structure状语 [zhuàngyǔ] in Chinese sentences. The subjects studied in this study were 36 students of the Chinese Language Education undergraduate program class 2023 Offering B, State University of Malang. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with test answers and interviews as data sources. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model. The types of adverbial structures discussed in this study include time adverb 时间状语 [shíjiān zhuàngyǔ], place adverb 地点状语 [dìdiǎn zhuàngyǔ], and togetherness adverb 一起状语 [yīqǐ zhuàngyǔ]. Misplacement of adverbial structures in Chinese sentences can change the meaning and logicality of the sentence The results of this study explain that the misplacement of the adverbial structure in Chinese sentences is caused by the influence of the native language sentence pattern which causes the transfer between the native language and Chinese.
