As a means of expression, language not only functions as a means of communication, but also as a reflection of how a person understands the world around them. Language reflects an individual's identity, shapes thinking habits, and influences how individuals interact with others. In the realm of language psychology, language is seen as an important factor in building perceptions, emotions, and effective communication patterns. Language is not only limited to verbal aspects, but also includes nonverbal expressions that help shape communication in guidance and counseling. Counselors who are able to use language cohesively, coherently, accurately, and meaningfully will be more effective in building empathetic relationships with clients. In the counseling process, the language used by the counselor must be able to create a comfortable, supportive atmosphere, and encourage clients to express their thoughts honestly. Thus, language becomes the main tool in building healthy communication, directing clients towards better self-understanding, and helping them find solutions to the problems they face. This study will further explore how the language used by counselors and the language responses of clients can affect the effectiveness of communication in guidance and counseling services. This study will examine the strategy of using appropriate language in the context of education and language psychology, in order to optimize the interaction between counselors and clients and improve the quality of counseling services.</p> Devi Devi Alvionita Alindra, Bernad Ekarisman Ndruru, Feby Yoana Siregar Copyright (c) 2025 Devi Devi Alvionita Alindra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jurnal.unprimdn.ac.id/index.php/ELTP/article/view/7087 Tue, 10 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 SCIENCEDIRECT: ESSENTIAL RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPING READING COMPREHENSION IN NARRATIVE QUALITATIVE RESEARCH https://jurnal.unprimdn.ac.id/index.php/ELTP/article/view/7137 <p>This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ScienceDirect in improving the English reading skills of students at Zainul Hasan Genggong Islamic University with a focus on text comprehension and reading skills. Recognizing the challenges faced by learners, such as anxiety and lack of confidence, the study emphasizes the need for innovative, interactive teaching methods that foster meaningful communication. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and documentation at MTs Muhammadiya 15 Medan. Findings reveal that students experienced increased confidence, improved speaking fluency, and greater classroom engagement when engaging in dialogue-based activities. However, challenges such as limited vocabulary and difficulties with spontaneous speaking were also noted, highlighting the necessity for scaffolding strategies to support language acquisition. The study concludes that while interactive dialogue techniques positively impact students' speaking abilities, effective implementation requires targeted support to overcome inherent challenges, ultimately contributing to more dynamic and student-centered language instruction.</p> Chairunnissa -; Nazli Fahada Copyright (c) 2025 Chairunnissa -; Nazli Fahada https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jurnal.unprimdn.ac.id/index.php/ELTP/article/view/7187 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000
