Abstract

This community empowerment cadre is realized in accordance with statutory regulations in this case the Minister of Health regulation number 8 of 2019 concerning community empowerment in the health sector. The health cadres themselves are people selected by the community and trained to mobilize the community to participate in empowering the community, especially in the health sector. The community empowerment strategy itself includes efforts to increase community knowledge and abilities about cancer through palliative cadres (Kemenkes RI, 2015).With palliative cadres who have provided assistance, it is hoped that they can move to increase public awareness to prevent cancer, as well as carry out early detection or examination of cancer.Women aged 50 years and over are a group that is vulnerable to the incidence of breast cancer. In Indonesia, the threat of cancer is increasing, this is triggered by lifestyle changes. The World Health Organization and the World Cancer Prevention Agency estimate that worldwide cancer incidence will continue to increase to reach 300 percent by 2030, and the majority of these cancers occur in developing countries including Indonesia. Based on data reported by GLOBOCAN that in 2018 the number of new cases of breast cancer was around 2,088,849 cases, this also places breast cancer in second place after lung cancer (Bray et al, 2018).Deaths from breast cancer worldwide in 2018 were around 627,000 (WHO, 2018). Meanwhile, new cases of breast cancer in Indonesia in 2013 were around 61,682, of which around 590 new cases were found in Southeast Sulawesi (Kemenkes RI, 2016). Based on the data above, this shows that breast cancer cases are quite high in the Southeast Sulawesi region. Several studies have shown that early detection of breast cancer can reduce the incidence and death from breast cancer (Amoran and Toyobo, 2015). The same thing was found based on Basic Health Research.
