Abstract

Palliative care is needed especially for people with non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes which are the leading causes of death in the world.  This activity is carried out in several stages. The activity begins with the preparation of plans and proposals for service activities, then takes care of letters addressed to partners and permits. The next stage is education about diabetes mellitus. followed by program evaluation, and the last stage of providing feedback and preparing reports. Evaluation is carried out at the end of educational activities. The evaluation uses a questionnaire and is seen from the percentage of correct answers in respondents.  The objectives of this study are Empowering the health of people who are at risk of developing DM disease and DM patients, Educating the public how palliative care is associated with diabetes mellitus, and Improving the degree of Health. After empowering palliative care by DM patients in Tanjung Gusta Village, the community and patients know and understand more about empowerment in carrying out palliative care.
